Out x Out is an LGBTQ+ travel and social discovery platform. Through a free app, a website covering 100+ US cities, and a weekly newsletter, we help queer travelers and locals find the good stuff — gay bars, nightlife, Pride, events, and the people and places that make a city feel like home.

We track live venue and event data across the country and turn it into guides written like a knowledgeable local friend, not a tourist brochure. Along the way we’ve built one of the most current datasets on the state of LGBTQ+ nightlife in America.

Finding your community in a new city shouldn’t take ten browser tabs and a stranger’s decade-old forum thread. Too many gay bars, events, and gathering spots are scattered, out of date, or simply hard to find when you’re standing somewhere new.
Our mission is to make it effortless for LGBTQ+ people to find welcoming places — and each other — wherever they are. We keep the data current, we cover cities the big guides overlook, and we tell the truth about what’s open, what’s closed, and what’s worth your night out.

I’m Robbie, and I started Out x Out. I’m from Minneapolis, spent a stretch in Seattle, and I’m spending 2026 building this from the road — somewhere between South America and Asia right now. Before this I worked in store design and product management, but I saved every vacation day for travel and made it to just about every major US city along the way (Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Key West, and Palm Springs are the ones I keep coming back to). Today I build Out x Out end to end — the app, the website, and the data behind them that tracks gay and gay-friendly venues and events across 100+ cities.
The idea hit me in Berlin. Their gay nightlife calendar was years ahead of anything we had back home — you could see not just where to go, but which night to go. And anyone who goes out knows even the best club has its off nights; you never want yours to be the dull one. The tools I had for finding queer nightlife while traveling were dated, thin, or just missing, and I’d spend way too long before every trip piecing together which bars were worth it on which nights — so I set out to pull all of it into one place.
I follow the scene pretty closely now — the openings, the closings, and the cities where it’s quietly growing or disappearing. But I’m more of a behind-the-scenes engineer than a spotlight person, and the real reason I do this is connection. I’d take one real one over a hundred surface-level ones any day — and my hope is that Out x Out helps more of us find each other, city by city, and eventually all over the world.
When I’m not building it, I’m usually trying some new hobby (lately sketching and crochet), out for a run, doing yoga, or having a slow evening somewhere good with people I click with.
