Liverpool's Gay Bar Scene at a Glance

Liverpool's gay bars all sit in the Pride Quarter, a tight cluster of streets in the city centre. Superstar Boudoir and Haus of Fun are on Stanley Street, Masquerade is round the corner on Cumberland Street, and The Lisbon, Campus and Heaven are all on Victoria Street. You can walk between every one of them in a few minutes. A typical night starts with a drink at The Lisbon, moves on to the drag bars, and finishes at one of the late clubs. The city's gay sauna, the Dolphin, is the one exception: it's across the Mersey in New Brighton.

Stanley Street and Cumberland Street

Stanley Street crosses Victoria Street at the heart of the Pride Quarter, and Cumberland Street is just off it. This is where the drag bars are.

Superstar Boudoir

Superstar Boudoir is at 22-24 Stanley Street, and its Instagram calls it an LGBTQ+ venue in the "heart of the gay scene", open seven days a week. The Liverpool Echo has called it the city's number one drag venue. Drag is the main draw: the club has its own line-up of resident queens and runs a Cabaret Sunday, and it posts the week's drinks offers on Instagram. Google reviewers describe cheesy chart music, rude and funny drag acts and a loud party crowd, so come for a late, silly night rather than a quiet drink. It lists opening from 10pm until 3am Monday to Thursday and on Sundays, with later finishes on Fridays and Saturdays. Check its Instagram for who's on before you head over.

Haus of Fun

Haus of Fun is a party venue at 27-29 Stanley Street, from the team behind FunnyBoyz, and its website bills it as "Liverpool's Ultimate LGBTQ+ Party Mega Club". Its Facebook page says it holds up to 1,000 people. The website splits it into three rooms: a cheesy room with DJs, bingo, karaoke, pool tables and a resident Dolly Parton and Shania Twain tribute act, an Abba-inspired room with DJs playing the 70s to the 00s, and a cabaret showbar and nightclub where a resident drag show opens the night and DJs play until 5am. It's built for celebrations, from Pride nights and birthdays to hen parties and coming-out milestones, so expect plenty of groups. The Benidorm Bar and DYSCO Liverpool share its address and still trade under their own names. Book on WhatsApp through its website, and check its Instagram for what's on.

Masquerade Bar

The Masquerade is at 10 Cumberland Street and bills itself as "Liverpool's friendliest LGBTQ+ venue", open most nights of the week (check Instagram for current days). Expect themed nights, karaoke-style singing nights and a chatty bar crowd; the bar promotes its themed nights on Facebook and Instagram. Google reviewers single out the friendly bar staff and resident queens, and several say it's a good place to turn up on your own and leave having made friends. Reviewers also note it's a small room, so it fills up fast on busy nights.

Victoria Street

Victoria Street has three of the bars in this guide: The Lisbon at the Stanley Street end, plus the two late clubs, Campus and Heaven.

The Lisbon

The Lisbon is at 35 Victoria Street, at the Stanley Street end, and describes itself as a vibrant city-centre bar in the heart of Liverpool's gay quarter and an "LGBT community local". Skiddle's 2026 guide notes the Grade II-listed building and its chandeliers. Google lists a 3pm opening, so it works for an afternoon pint as well as a night out. Google reviewers mention a pool table, good-value drinks offers and food such as pizza and sharing platters, and the bar posts themed parties, Halloween among them, on its Facebook page. Start here, then work your way round to Stanley Street and Cumberland Street as the night goes on.

Campus

Campus is a new gay club at 9 Victoria Street. It opened in 2026 in the unit OMG traded from until it closed in June, and calls itself Liverpool's "LGBTQ+ Party HQ", an "LGBTQ+ space re-imagined and refreshed". It's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The website gives 10pm to 5am from Wednesday to Friday and on Sundays, while Saturdays start early at 3pm and run through to 5am. It runs a free-entry weekend every week. Its resident hosts are Carmen Sutra, Genevieve Renee, Natasha Von Spirit and Barbie Pink, and Google reviewers praise the drag hosts, and a dancefloor that keeps going late, which makes it a good bet after the bars on Stanley Street wind down.

Heaven

Heaven is the after-hours club at 10-18 Victoria Street, and it bills itself as "Liverpool's campest afterhours". Its website lists it as open every night from midnight until 6am and #HeavenTil7 at weekends, so this is where a Pride Quarter night tends to end once the bars close. Google lists it as a gay nightclub that opens at midnight. The club is run by Pub Invest Group, and its website also takes venue-hire enquiries. Google reviews are mixed, and a few mention a strict door, so arrive in good shape and check Instagram for the week's line-up first.

Liverpool's Gay Sauna

The Dolphin is a gay sauna across the Mersey in New Brighton, on the Wirral, rather than in Liverpool itself. Its website bills it as the North West's oldest sauna, "for gay, bi-sexual and the curious". Inside there's a pool, a jacuzzi, showers, cabins, lockers with a free towel and a coffee bar with snacks and drinks. Entry is £12, or £10 for students, with no time limit. It's cash only and 18+, and it's open from 11am to 8pm every day, with last entry at 7pm. Full details:

Getting Around

Pro Tip

You won't need transport between the bars. All the bars in this guide are in the Pride Quarter, on Stanley Street, Cumberland Street and Victoria Street, a few minutes' walk from each other. The Dolphin sauna is the only trip out: it's at 129 Mount Road in New Brighton, across the Mersey, and New Brighton station, the end of the Merseyrail Wirral line, is about a 10-minute walk away, so it's a straightforward Merseyrail trip from the city centre. If you're driving, there's free parking outside. Bring cash, as it doesn't take cards.

I'm Robbie, the founder of Out x Out. I'm from Minneapolis, though I'm spending 2026 building this community from the road — somewhere between South America and Asia. The idea for Out x Out came from a trip to Berlin, where the gay nightlife calendar was years ahead of ours: you could see not just where to go out, but which night to go — so naturally I wanted that kind of insider info for every city in the US (and beyond... eventually). I'm more of a behind-the-scenes type, but the whole point of this is connection: I'd take one real one over a hundred surface-level ones, and I'm trying to build that for the community, city by city.
