Are There Lesbian Bars and Safe Spaces in Denver?

Denver is one of the few cities in the country with a dedicated sapphic bar — and the scene is growing.

The Pearl

The Pearl (2199 California St, Five Points) is Denver's dedicated sapphic bar and cafe, run by the Sapphic Collective. It opened in its permanent location in spring 2025 in the former Mercury Cafe space, featuring three distinct rooms: the Rose Room, Jungle Room, and Warehouse. It's one of only a handful of sapphic-focused bars in the entire country.

Weekly schedule:

  • Sunday — Free Suds & Sapphics (Queer Beer Bust)
  • Wednesday — Gayme Night and Karaoke
  • Thursday — T4T Thursdays
  • Friday — The Pearl Jam (dance party)
  • Saturday — PURO PERREO (Reggaeton y Lesbianas)
  • Also hosts Lindy Hop lessons and West Coast Swing classes
  • Hours: Closed Monday; Sun-Thu 5pm-midnight; Fri-Sat 5pm-2am

History

The Pearl rose to fill a gap left when Blush & Blu, Colorado's previous dedicated lesbian bar on East Colfax, closed in October 2024. The Pearl started as Pearl Divers — a tiki/speakeasy pop-up inside Your Mom's House music venue on Capitol Hill in December 2024 — before moving to its permanent Five Points location.

Other Queer Women's Spaces

  • Lady Justice Brewing Company — A women and queer-owned brewery that donates 100% of taproom proceeds to nonprofits serving women and girls. A welcoming space for the queer women's community.
  • The Sapphic Collective also hosts events at venues across Denver, including the annual Pride at The Pearl sapphic celebration and themed nights like the Sapphic Renaissance Faire.
