Part of the Gay Birmingham Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Birmingham, England
Independent Hurst Street bar, chilled by day
Equator is an independent bar at 123 Hurst Street, right in the Gay Village, and it calls itself Hurst Street's little gem. Its own site says it has been going for more than 20 years. It's a good daytime option: it opens at 1pm most days, it's mellow in the afternoon and gets more upbeat at weekends. The bar covers draught and bottled beers, spirits, wines and champagne. It's closed on Mondays and finishes at 10pm midweek and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, so treat it as a first stop before the clubs. WashWorx is a few doors along if you want cocktails next.
