Chicago, California
Campy burger-and-drag diner, reborn in Edgewater in 2025.
A Chicago institution since 2006, Hamburger Mary's spent 14 beloved years as an Andersonville anchor before the pandemic forced its closure in 2020 — and then made its triumphant return in July 2025 with a new Edgewater location on Bryn Mawr Avenue. Same owners, same energy, same commitment to gourmet burgers and unforgettable drag: the Wright brothers brought Mary back to the Windy City with familiar faces, fan-favorite menu items, and a full slate of the events that made the original a neighborhood legend. Expect Dining with the Divas drag dinners, bottomless mimosa drag brunches, Charity HamBINGO, and MaryOke karaoke nights in a campy, welcoming atmosphere that's always been as much about community as it has been about the food. From the classic Mary Burger to the Britney Fried Spears, every visit is a celebration. Chicago, she's back — eat, drink, and be Mary.
