Belfast, Northern Ireland
Gay bar on Union Street, open until late seven days a week
The Maverick is a gay bar on Union Street, and it places itself at the heart of Belfast's Rainbow Quarter. Its welcome is "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side!", and the rainbow and trans flags on its pages tell you who it's for. The bar says it's open until late seven days a week, and at weekends it opens from 2pm, so it works for a lazy Saturday afternoon drink as well as a late one. You can see the menu on its website before you go. For what's on this week, from viewing parties to themed nights, check the bar's Facebook page, which is where it posts its line-ups and photos.
