Nashville, Tennessee
Church Street gay bar and dance floor, open since 2002.
Nashville’s longest-running LGBTQ+ bar, open since 2002 on Church Street. Co-founders David Taylor and Keith Blaydes converted a former Rent-A-Center and installed 75 feet of glass storefront — deliberately visible from the street at a time when most gay bars blacked out their windows. The opening helped establish the block as Nashville’s gay district. Tribe functions as a social lounge with a dance floor, pool tables, a patio, and a food menu. Weekly programming includes Wednesday trivia, Thursday drag bingo and karaoke, and Showtunes Sunday sing-alongs. The sister venue Play next door handles the heavier dance-club nights. Tribe spawned both Play and the former Suzy Wong’s House of Yum from the same ownership group.
