Albuquerque, New Mexico
Disco-ball bar and dance floor on Central, born from an LGBTQ+ mixer
VERS is an LGBTQ+ bar, club and gathering space on Central Avenue, between Nob Hill and the International District in Albuquerque. Married couple Lucas Romero and Luke Rogers opened it in July 2026 in the former Albuquerque Distilling space: a disco ball hangs over a black-and-white checkered marble floor and maroon booths, and a curtained room next door opens into a dance floor. It grew out of Friends of Dorothy, the quarterly LGBTQ+ mixer the couple started in 2021, which grew to nearly 400 people. Early evening is for cocktails and a short bar menu, green chile cheese curds included; by about 10 p.m. the bar shifts to mixed drinks and dancing. The owners pitch it as being for "everyone under the rainbow," allies included.
