Bristol's Gay Bar Scene at a Glance
Bristol's gay bars sit in two places. Three of them are around Frogmore Street in the city centre: Queenshilling and OMG Bar on Frogmore Street itself, and the OMG club just off it on Frog Lane. The fourth, the Bristol Bear Bar, is on West Street in Old Market, the area Bristol Pride's venue guide calls "The Village". An easy plan for a night on Frogmore Street is to start at OMG Bar, which opens at 8pm, and move on to one of the two clubs, which open at 10pm on club nights.
- For your first night out: OMG Bar, then Queenshilling or OMG
- For dancing late: OMG (up to 5am at the weekend, per its website), Queenshilling (until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays)
- For karaoke: Queenshilling (free, on Mondays)
- For a bear bar: Bristol Bear Bar
- For a drink any night of the week: OMG Bar (open seven nights)
- For student nights: OMG

Frogmore Street
Frogmore Street is the city-centre strip with most of Bristol's gay nightlife: one bar and two clubs, all within a short walk of each other.
OMG Bar
OMG Bar is at 3 Frogmore Street, the sister bar to the OMG club round the corner on Frog Lane. On Instagram it bills itself as "Bristol's Iconic Gay Bar". It's open seven nights a week, from 8pm until 2am, or 3am on Thursdays and Sundays, according to its website, and its Instagram advertises daily offers. Its website promises live DJs and drag, with special events posted on its Instagram. It's the natural first stop before the clubs open at 10pm. The OMG app has offers for both the bar and the club.
Queenshilling
Queenshilling is an LGBT+ nightclub at 9 Frogmore Street. On Instagram it calls itself an "award winning safe space", and its door policy is printed on its website: no racists, no homophobes, no arseholes. The regular week is short. Monday is free karaoke, with doors at 9pm and singing from 10pm, and Friday and Saturday are club nights, from 10pm to 4am according to its Instagram. Make an effort with your outfit: the club says it sometimes turns away tracksuits and sportswear. It also runs regular fundraisers for local causes, including Brigstowe, the Bristol Bisons rugby club and youth groups at Pride.
OMG
OMG is an LGBT+ club at 1-2 Frog Lane, just off Frogmore Street, and part of a small group with clubs in Liverpool and Plymouth. Its own pitch is live DJs, drag performances and student nights that run into the early hours, with poles, cages and podiums for anyone who wants to be seen. Doors open at 10pm, and the website lists late finishes, up to 5am at the weekend. The days it opens differ between its website and its Instagram, so check Instagram before a weeknight visit.
Old Market
Old Market is east of the city centre, and Bristol Pride's venue guide calls it "The Village".
Bristol Bear Bar
BBB, the Bristol Bear Bar, is at 2 West Street in Old Market. On Facebook it bills itself as the first purpose-built bear bar in the country, and it describes itself as an attitude-free bar where everyone is welcome. Expect a relaxed bar rather than a big night out. There's no website, so check its Facebook or Instagram for opening times and what's on that weekend.
Getting Around
Pro Tip
Queenshilling, OMG Bar and OMG are all around Frogmore Street, so you can walk between them in a few minutes. The Bristol Bear Bar is in Old Market, on the other side of the city centre, so plan it as a separate stop or take a taxi. OMG's opening days differ between its website and Instagram, and the Bristol Bear Bar has no website, so check Instagram or Facebook for both before you go.

Robbie S.
I'm Robbie, the founder of Out x Out. I'm from Minneapolis, though I'm spending 2026 building this community from the road — somewhere between South America and Asia. The idea for Out x Out came from a trip to Berlin, where the gay nightlife calendar was years ahead of ours: you could see not just where to go out, but which night to go — so naturally I wanted that kind of insider info for every city in the US (and beyond... eventually). I'm more of a behind-the-scenes type, but the whole point of this is connection: I'd take one real one over a hundred surface-level ones, and I'm trying to build that for the community, city by city.
