Born during the 2020 lockdown when a handful of boats spontaneously paraded down the New River as a socially distanced celebration, it has grown into a full decorated flotilla cruising through downtown Fort Lauderdale, complete with a yacht party and a waterfront tea dance. Here is how the day flows. The yacht party boards around 10:30 a.m. and departs at 11 a.m. sharp aboard a 130-foot vessel, while the public flotilla of decorated boats launches at 1:30 p.m. from Esplanade Park downtown. Can't get on a boat? Watch from the shore — waterfront spots like The Historic Downtowner, The Boathouse, and Masa serve up dockside brunches and flotilla views, but book ahead because they fill fast. The party comes ashore for a T-Dance at Bokamper's on the Intracoastal to close things out. It is also a fundraiser with real teeth: proceeds feed the FLoatarama LGBTQ Youth Fund, which has awarded more than $400,000 in grants to South Florida youth organizations. Tickets for the yacht party and tea dance sell through floatarama.org, and the on-the-water portion is 21-plus. Esplanade Park sits in downtown Fort Lauderdale near the Brightline station, so the train from Miami or West Palm makes an easy car-free option. Slather on the sunscreen, hydrate, and treat this as the joyful, only-in-Fort-Lauderdale opening note of Pride 2026.
