Minneapolis American Indian Center
1530 E Franklin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404The Two Spirit Powwow 2026 takes place Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Minneapolis American Indian Center on E Franklin Ave in Minneapolis, and it's one of the most meaningful gatherings on the Twin Cities calendar. Now in its 5th year and hosted by New Native Theatre, this is Minnesota's only powwow honoring Native Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ relatives, held the week before the main Twin Cities Pride weekend. Expect an afternoon and evening of dancing, drumming, regalia, a grand entry, and a circle of traditional craft and food vendors. The exact start time hasn't been published yet, so check newnativetheatre.org/powwow as the day approaches for the grand entry schedule and how late things run. The Center sits in the Phillips neighborhood, and getting there is simple. Metro Transit buses serve E Franklin Ave, so transit is your easiest option, though keep in mind the free Pride-weekend fares land the following weekend, not this Tuesday, so plan on routine fares. Admission is free and the whole event is family-friendly and welcoming to all, no ticket or age policy to worry about. Here's the one thing to carry with you: this is a culturally significant, community-led gathering, not a spectacle. Come respectfully, listen for the host's guidance on photography and dance etiquette before you raise a phone, and put real dollars toward the vendors, the beadwork, the food, the artists who make this circle what it is. You'll leave having witnessed something rooted in this specific place and its Indigenous community, and that's the whole point of being here.
