Where to Stay·Minneapolis Gay Guide

What are the Gay Friendly Hotels in Minneapolis?

The Twin Cities have excellent hotel options near the LGBTQ+ nightlife districts. For Pride weekend (late June), book 3–6 months in advance — downtown Minneapolis hotels sell out quickly.

Near the Gayborhood (Loring Park / Hennepin Ave)

  • Hotel Ivy, A Luxury Collection Hotel (201 S 11th St) — A historic luxury property in the theater district, steps from Loring Park and the Hennepin Avenue corridor. One of the most recommended hotels for LGBTQ+ travelers in Minneapolis.

  • W Minneapolis — The Foshay (821 Marquette Ave S) — Located in the iconic 1929 Foshay Tower, this is one of the most stylish hotels in the city. The W brand has a strong LGBTQ-friendly reputation and the Art Deco setting is stunning.

  • AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown (401 Hennepin Ave) — Marriott's boutique-modern brand, right on Hennepin Avenue and walkable to the gayborhood. Clean, contemporary design at a moderate price point.

Downtown Minneapolis

  • The Hewing Hotel (300 N Washington Ave) — A converted 1800s timber warehouse in the North Loop, one of Minneapolis's most acclaimed boutique hotels. Locally owned with a strong following among LGBTQ+ travelers.

  • Loews Minneapolis Hotel (601 1st Ave N) — Full-service upscale hotel near Target Center, walkable to the gayborhood. Well-regarded LGBTQ-friendly property.

  • Canopy by Hilton Minneapolis Mill District (708 S 3rd St) — Boutique-style Hilton in the Mill District, modern design with river views. Walkable to downtown and Loring Park.

St. Paul

  • The Saint Paul Hotel (350 Market St) — A historic 1910 landmark on Rice Park, widely considered the best hotel in St. Paul. Adjacent to the Ordway Center and Landmark Center, with a classic grand-hotel atmosphere.

Tips

Minneapolis's skyway system connects most downtown hotels, which is especially useful in winter. The Hyatt Regency (1300 Nicollet Mall) and Minneapolis Marriott City Center (30 S 7th St) are good high-capacity options for large groups during Pride.
