Are There Lesbian Bars and Safe Spaces in Boston?

Boston has a growing sapphic nightlife scene anchored by a dedicated lesbian bar and supported by recurring queer women's events across the city.

Dani's Queer Bar

Dani's Queer Bar (909 Boylston St, Back Bay) is Boston's dedicated lesbian and sapphic bar, opened in September 2024. Created by and for the sapphic community, Dani's grew out of Sapphic Nights Boston, which started in 2021 with 100 attendees and grew to 2,200-person parties at venues like the House of Blues and the Sir Winston yacht.

Dani's hosts a packed event calendar:

  • Sapphic Saturdays — Weekly queer women's night
  • Drag brunches and comedy nights
  • Latin nights and emo nights
  • 30+ and 40+ mixers — Events designed for queer people over 30 and 40
  • Board game nights and community socials

Jamaica Plain

Jamaica Plain (JP) has historically been Boston's hub for queer women and LGBTQ+ families. Centre Street is the main commercial strip with queer-friendly cafes, bookshops, and restaurants. Midway Café in JP hosts Queeraoke every Thursday and has been a queer women's gathering spot for decades.

Recurring Events
