Back Bay's sapphic-centered queer bar, opened in 2024.
Dani's Queer Bar opened in September 2024 on Boylston Street in the Back Bay, taking over the long-running Pour House space and giving Boston its first dedicated lesbian bar in decades. Founder Thais Rocha built it out of her Sapphic Nights event series, the roving parties that proved the demand and helped fund the room, and named the bar after her American Eskimo dog, Dani. The space centers sapphic, trans, and non-binary patrons while keeping the door open to the whole queer community. Programming runs from drag brunches and karaoke to no-cover weekend parties, with a late-night kitchen turning out Brazilian-inspired snacks alongside a real cocktail menu. Its arrival filled a conspicuous gap in a city that had gone years without a women-centered queer bar, and the recognition followed quickly, with Boston Magazine naming it a best new nightlife venue. For sapphic locals and travelers alike, it has become the default answer to where to go in Boston.
