Pride·Austin Gay Guide

When is Austin Pride?

Austin Pride is one of the most distinctive Pride celebrations in the country, held in August rather than June and featuring an evening parade after dark.

Austin Pride Parade & Festival

  • When: Typically the first or second Saturday of August (check austinpride.org for 2026 dates)
  • Parade route: Congress Avenue in downtown Austin, from the Capitol area south toward Lady Bird Lake
  • Step-off time: 8:00 PM — Austin's parade is an evening event, a signature tradition that avoids the brutal Texas summer heat
  • Festival: Multi-day celebration at Fiesta Gardens with live music, vendors, and community organizations

The nighttime parade is a highlight — neon floats and illuminated costumes light up Congress Avenue in a way that daytime parades simply can't match.

Queerbomb (June)

Queerbomb fills the traditional Pride Month slot in June with a grassroots, DIY-spirited march and dance party through downtown Austin. It's intentionally free, sponsor-free, and community-organized — a counterpoint to larger corporate Pride events. Queerbomb typically draws thousands and ends with an outdoor dance party.

Other Pride-Adjacent Events

  • Austin Black Pride — September/October weekend celebrating the Black LGBTQ+ community with parties, panels, and social events
  • Splash Days — Memorial Day Weekend unofficial gay gathering at Hippie Hollow (Texas's only clothing-optional public park) with pool and circuit-style parties around town
