Gay-owned leather and kink boutique in Dupont Circle
Bite the Fruit is a gay-owned adult boutique on the second floor of a Dupont Circle storefront that carried leather and kink gear for over three decades as The Leather Rack. Owner Russwin Francisco reopened the space in 2012 with an expanded inventory — body-safe toys, lubricants, lingerie, BDSM gear, and leather — while keeping the community roots intact. A leather flag still flies alongside the rainbow flag year-round. The shop leans educational and sex-positive, with staff who know their products and a focus on sexual health. Francisco, a gay Filipino-American artist and performer, built Bite the Fruit as a brick-and-mortar destination where customers can handle products before buying — a deliberate counter to the faceless online shopping experience. Open daily noon to 8pm.
