Part of the Gay Denver Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Denver, Colorado
Denver's country-western gay bar with line dancing since 1981.
Charlie's is a country-western gay bar on Colfax Avenue, open since 1981. The dance floor sits under a cowboy-boot disco ball, there's a stage for live shows and a courtyard for outdoor parties, and the line-dancing lessons on Thursdays and Saturdays are the main draw for regulars and first-timers alike. The rest of the calendar runs to trivia, karaoke, and charity drag shows. The crowd is genuinely mixed: bears, drag performers, bikers, and country fans all turn up, and the room works as part honky-tonk saloon, part Top 40 dance bar. It's pulled off that combination for more than four decades on one of Denver's busiest corridors.
