Part of the Gay Boston Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Boston, Massachusetts
South End landmark gay bar, restaurant, and cabaret since 1983.
A South End institution that's anchored Boston's gay nightlife since 1983, Club Cafe packs a full restaurant, a cabaret room, and a back dance bar into one address on Columbus Ave. The Napoleon Room is the heart of it, an intimate cabaret and performance space that hosts some of the city's best drag and live acts, while the front runs as a real sit-down restaurant and the back bar handles the late-night dancing with video DJs. The week moves through after-work happy hours, drag shows, themed nights, dance parties, and a Sunday drag brunch, drawing a mixed crowd of longtime locals and visitors. It's one of the most recognizable queer venues in the city and has outlasted most of its contemporaries. For a traveler it's the safe-bet anchor of the South End: centrally located, something happening most nights, and equally workable as a dinner spot or the start of a night out.
