Indigenous-owned queer nightclub in Osborne Village, continuing a legacy since 1974
Club Happenings is an Indigenous-owned queer nightclub on Osborne Street in Osborne Village, Winnipeg's walkable entertainment district. Run by Les, Kfir, and Kayla, it's a BIPOC and Latinx 2SLGBTQIA+ space that deliberately carries forward the legacy of the Happenings Social Club (1974-2002), one of Winnipeg's first members-only queer gathering spaces, founded by Jack Raynor at a time when being openly gay in public could be dangerous. Today it's a working stage as much as a bar: programming rotates through live music, drag shows, raves, karaoke, open mics, and a regular Monday comedy night, with the stated aim of giving local and emerging queer artists a platform. Expect craft cocktails, local brews, and comfort food alongside the show. It reads as the community-minded counterweight to a straight-up dance club, open to all, but rooted in who built it.
