Savannah, Georgia
Savannah's LGBTQ+ flagship — drag cabaret, dance floors, and home of Lady Chablis
Club One is Savannah's landmark gay nightclub, open since 1988 and for decades the anchor of the city's LGBTQ+ nightlife. It earned national fame through Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: the Lady Chablis, the book and film's scene-stealing drag performer, was the first to take its stage, and her legacy remains central to the club's identity. The multi-floor space built its reputation on drag shows running most nights of the week. In 2026 the club is moving about a block to 301 Williamson Street under new ownership, into a larger room with an expanded performance area, full accessibility, and upgraded sound and lighting, with plans to carry the Lady Chablis history into the new space. It has long been Savannah's first stop for a drag-driven night out and the heart of the local queer scene, a role set to continue at the new location.
