Quirky queer lounge in a heritage building in downtown Victoria since 2020
Friends of Dorothy is a queer lounge on Johnson Street in downtown Victoria, opened in December 2020 by Rudy Tomazic in a former heritage bakery. The decor is "Louis XIV meets punk chic," featuring velvet banquettes, purple lighting, and a Marie Antoinette mural. Programming includes weekly drag shows, Karaoke Sundays, and Talent Tuesdays for local performers. The menu features Wizard of Oz-themed cocktails like the Yellow Brick Road and full kitchen service that earned Best New Restaurant in 2022. As of early 2026, the venue is on a temporary hiatus.
