Part of the Gay Dallas Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Dallas, Texas
Cedar Springs country-western gay bar and dance hall since 1980.
The Round-Up Saloon is a country-western gay bar and dance hall on the Cedar Springs strip in Oak Lawn, open since 1980 and one of the longest-running fixtures of Dallas's gayborhood. A 1989 fire forced a rebuild, and it reopened at its current Cedar Springs home in 1990. It's a sprawling space — several rooms, multiple bars across two levels, and a two-story outdoor patio — but the heart of it is the big hardwood dance floor. That floor is the whole point: Round-Up is built for two-stepping and western swing, and it runs free dance lessons most weeks for anyone who shows up not knowing how. Karaoke fills out the calendar on the nights there isn't a dance crowd. Boots optional, but you'll feel less like a tourist with them on — and even by Dallas standards, few rooms in town pull off the country theme this fully or this unironically.
