Gay Campgrounds in the US: 32 LGBTQ+ Campgrounds by Region, With Who's Welcome, Seasons and Prices
We verified 32 LGBTQ+ campgrounds in the US, from 700-acre men's retreats in the Ozarks to a women-only resort in Michigan's Thumb. This guide covers every one we could verify from the campground's own website: who's welcome, what clothing optional means there, what you can sleep in, what it costs and when the season runs.
Gay Events
Drag brunches, circuit nights & the best LGBTQ+ parties across the US — in your inbox every week.
Gay campgrounds have been part of LGBTQ+ travel for decades, and they get far less coverage than the bars and resorts. Oneida in Pennsylvania has been taking campers since 1980, Timberfell in Tennessee since 1978, Triangle Recreation Camp in Washington since 1975. Most of them are private, membership-based properties on 50 to 700 acres, an hour or two from the nearest city, with a pool, a clubhouse that turns into a dance floor on Saturday night, and a calendar of themed weekends from spring to Halloween. Many are men-only and clothing optional. A few welcome everyone in the community, one is women-only, and three are not clothing optional at all.
This guide covers 32 campgrounds across 17 states. Every fact here comes from the campground's own website as it read in October 2026: who is admitted, the clothing policy, what you can sleep in, the membership and day-pass system, the posted rates and the season. Where a site does not say something, we say so rather than guess. Policies and prices change, and a few of these places have changed hands in the last two years, so treat the numbers as a starting point and confirm when you book.

Pro Tip
Almost every campground on this list requires a membership, usually $15 to $50 a year, bought at the gate with photo ID on your first visit. It is a legal formality that lets a private club set its own rules, not a loyalty program. Budget for it on top of the site or cabin rate, and bring your ID.
How Gay Campgrounds Work
Membership and day passes. Nearly all of these properties are private clubs. You pay a small annual membership on arrival (The Woods charges $50, most charge $15 to $30, and Triangle Recreation Camp folds it into a $22-a-night visitor membership), sign a waiver and show government ID. Day passes let you use the pool, clubhouse and grounds without staying over, typically $10 to $60 depending on the campground and the day of the week, and almost always on top of the membership.
Clothing optional. At most men's campgrounds it means nude is fine anywhere inside the gate except the office, the dining room or cafe, and anywhere visible from the road. Several sites spell out that a towel goes under you on benches and that public sexual activity is not allowed. A few campgrounds limit nudity to designated areas (CreekRidge and Freedom Valley; Vitambi Springs keeps its main road and public buildings clothed), and three on this list are not clothing optional at all. Read each entry.
What you can sleep in. Every campground here takes tents and most take RVs with 30- or 50-amp electric; full hookups with sewer are less universal, so check if you need them. Almost all also rent cabins, and the bigger properties add lodge rooms, bunkhouses, rental trailers, glamping tents, yurts and the odd treehouse. Cabins and rooms usually carry a two-night weekend minimum and three nights on holiday weekends.
Seasons. Northern campgrounds open in late April or May and close by mid-October, often with a Halloween weekend as the finale. Sawmill in Florida, Timberfell in Tennessee and Roseland in West Virginia run all year, and the Florida and Texas properties put their busiest weekends in the cooler months.

All areas except the inside dining room are clothing optional. The season runs May through October. Sites take tents, trailers and big rigs (most sites are 50 amp), and there are 39 cabins and three park-model homes. Membership is $50 per person for the 2026 season or $25 for a seven-day temporary membership, and day passes run about $31 to $46 in peak season. Its camp policies say you must be at least 21 or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and everyone holds a membership card; clothing is optional except in the office, at camp meals and in the cafe, and swimsuits are required at the lake. The policies do not state a gender rule, so do not assume it is men-only from what directories say. There are tent sites, RV hookups, cabins and two lodges for groups. The 2026 rate sheet lists tent camping at $33 per person on weeknights and $50 on Friday and Saturday nights, RVs at the tent rate plus $10, and standard cabins at $82.50 midweek and $145 on weekends for two. Posted rates start at $59 for a tent site and $119 for a Never Tent, with trailers, cabins and RV sites priced on the rates page; lodging includes the day pass. Southern gay campgrounds
Pro Tip
The themed weekend is the unit of the gay-campground calendar. Bear weekends, leather weekends, pup weekends, Christmas in July, Illumination (light up your site), Halloween and chili cook-offs recur across the whole list. If you want quiet, pick the off weekend between them; if you want the party, book the named weekend two months out and expect a two- or three-night minimum.

Tent and 30/50-amp RV sites sit alongside king and queen cabins, a five-bed bunkhouse and B&B rooms in the Rut House; posted weekend rates are $40 for a primitive site, $60 for a full-hookup RV site, $100 to $120 for cabins and $140 to $170 for Rut House rooms, with weekdays $10 to $20 less. The pool and hot tub are open 24 hours. The site mentions construction upgrades to meet state code, and the autumn 2026 calendar ran a Pup Play weekend, a drag show, a Lumberjack weekend, a Renaissance weekend, a Bear Weekend and New Year's Eve.
Magnetic Valley Resort, Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Magnetic Valley is an all-male, clothing-optional resort for gay, bi and straight men 18 and older about a mile from downtown Eureka Springs, operating since 2008. It is a resort first, with queen and king en-suite rooms and a single-occupancy hostel, but its home page also lists RV spots with full hookups and campsites, which is why it is here. Its FAQ says the time to come is late March through October. Day passes are $25 on weekdays and $30 on Saturdays, and a season pass is $275. There is a pool, a cafe, a gift shop, covered cabanas, a hammock village and trails. The resort does not publish room, RV or camping rates, counts or a street address on its site.
Triangle Recreation Camp, Granite Falls, Washington
Triangle Recreation Camp, or TRC, is a volunteer-run non-profit established in 1975 on 80 acres of rainforest along the Mountain Loop Highway, 21 miles east of Granite Falls and about an hour and a half from Seattle. It is LGBTQ+ owned and operated and membership is for LGBTQ+ adults 21 and over only, with one Friends & Family weekend each August open to straight allies. Nudity is permitted except where the highway or parking lot can see you. The camp opens the second Saturday of April and closes the second Saturday of October. Visitors camp on a limited membership at $22 a night, tent only; regular membership is $195 a year for unlimited camping, with RV camping by reservation and power on a schedule. There is no cell service past Granite Falls, so download directions. The 2026 calendar ran Neon Jungle over Memorial Day, Camp Furwood, Pink Party, Black Forest over July 4, White Sands and Dark Desires, a K9 Campout and Jurasslic Park over Labor Day.

Most of these campgrounds sit an hour or two from a city with a gay bar strip. Open the Out x Out app for the bars, drag nights and events in Louisville, Tampa, Philadelphia, Houston and 100 other cities on the way in or out.
Not on the List, and Why
- Copper Cactus Ranch, Morristown, Arizona — the all-male clothing-optional B&B and campground's site said in October 2026 that it was settling into a new location northwest of Phoenix and re-opening, while listing event weekends from Halloween to New Year's. Call before you plan around it.
- Rainbow Mountain Resort, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania — the Poconos resort's website is a Launching Soon placeholder with no address or lodging information, so nothing here can be verified.
- Parliament Resort, Augusta, Georgia — an all-male resort with an RV park, but the RV lots are 12-month leases only, so it is not a place to camp for a weekend.
- The Highlands Resort, Guerneville, California — the Russian River resort rents furnished canvas scout tents from May to September rather than taking your own tent or RV, its pool is no longer clothing optional and day passes have ended, so it belongs with resorts rather than campgrounds.
- Camp David (Inverness, Florida) and Bluff Creek Falls (Steele, Alabama) — both are listed in directories as men's campgrounds, but neither has a readable official site, so we could not confirm policies or whether they are operating.
Pro Tip
If a campground is men-only, read its wording on trans men before you book. Stag Run Club, SIRenity Farms, Camp Buckwood, Oak Hill Hideaway and Boar's Rut say trans men are welcome on their own sites; Twin Ponds Lodge admits men who identify and live authentically as men; Cactus Canyon admits adults who identify as men. Most of the others simply do not address it, which is a reason to email ahead rather than a reason to assume.
When to Go
In the North, the season is short and front-loaded: opening weekends land in late April or May, Memorial Day through Labor Day is peak, and Halloween weekends close most parks in mid-to-late October. Jones Pond, Camp Boomerang, River Ridge and CreekRidge all end their seasons in October; CreekRidge opens 2027 reservations on January 1 and Twin Ponds on January 15, and the popular weekends go early.
In the South the pattern flips. Sawmill, Timberfell and Roseland are open all year, Vitambi Springs posts no closing season, and all four put big weekends in November and December, when the Florida heat breaks and the Appalachian leaves turn. Timberfell runs Friendsgiving and a Christmas open house; Vitambi runs Burning Bear, Bears in the Buff and Illumination over Christmas; Roseland runs its Co-Ed Weekends from November to late December.
If you are driving a loop, the densest cluster is northeastern Pennsylvania and western New York: Hillside and Oneida are a few miles apart near New Milford, The Woods is about two hours south in the Poconos and Jones Pond is about three and a half hours west. In the Midwest, Campit, CreekRidge and Camp Boomerang are within about two hours of each other in western Michigan, Windover is another three hours northeast in the Thumb, and Camp Buckwood and Stag Run Club bracket southern Indiana. Pair a campground stay with a city weekend: Saugatuck for Campit, Louisville for Stag Run, Tampa and St. Pete for Sawmill, Fort Lauderdale for Vitambi Springs. Frequently Asked Questions
What is a gay campground?
A private campground, usually a membership club, that admits LGBTQ+ adults or, more often, adult men, and runs on a calendar of themed weekends. Most have a pool, a clubhouse or dance hall and a mix of tent sites, RV hookups and cabins. Many are clothing optional. They are not public parks: you join at the gate, show ID and agree to the rules.
Are gay campgrounds men-only?
Most are. Of the 32 here, 22 admit men only, and Vitambi Springs calls itself primarily all-male. The Woods, Oneida, Campit, Sawmill, The River's Edge, Camp Nackte, Triangle Recreation Camp and Rainbow Ranch welcome the whole community, and Windover is women-only.
Are gay campgrounds clothing optional?
Most men's campgrounds are, inside the gate and away from the road, office and dining areas. CreekRidge and Freedom Valley limit nudity to designated areas. Windover, Rainbow Ranch and Campit are not clothing optional at all. Camp Buckwood, Camp Mars and D-Ranch do not post a policy on their sites.
Do I need a membership to camp?
Almost always. Expect $15 to $50 a year, paid on your first visit with photo ID; Triangle Recreation Camp folds it into a $22-a-night visitor membership, and Magnetic Valley sells a $275 season pass instead. Day passes are usually sold on top of the membership.
How much does a gay campground cost per night?
Tent sites run about $15 to $50 per person or per site depending on the campground, electric and RV sites about $40 to $65 for two, cabins about $65 to $190, and lodge rooms up to about $250, based on the 2026 rate cards posted by the campgrounds in this guide. Weekends and holidays cost more and usually carry two- or three-night minimums.
Can I bring my dog?
At most of them, usually on a leash and out of the pool, buildings and rental units unless the campground says otherwise. Jones Pond, Camp Buckwood, Freedom Valley and Campit have dog parks or fenced dog areas; several charge a $25 to $50 pet fee in cabins; Camp Dawgwoodz allows dogs but not cats and bans pit bulls, and Camp Boomerang bans pit bulls too.
Which gay campgrounds are open in winter?
Roseland (West Virginia), Timberfell (Tennessee) and Sawmill (Florida) are open all year, and Vitambi Springs (Florida) posts no closing season and runs weekends through December. Rainbow Ranch and Circle J in Texas, Boar's Rut in Arkansas and The River's Edge in Georgia run events through New Year's. Twin Ponds Lodge in Maine opens for a handful of winter event weekends.
Are there lesbian or women's campgrounds in the US?
Windover Women's Resort in Michigan is the one women-only campground we could verify from its own site. Rainbow Ranch in Texas runs dedicated women's weekends, and The Woods, Campit, Sawmill, The River's Edge and Triangle Recreation Camp admit women alongside men.

I'm Robbie, the founder of Out x Out. I'm from Minneapolis, though I'm spending 2026 building this community from the road — somewhere between South America and Asia. The idea for Out x Out came from a trip to Berlin, where the gay nightlife calendar was years ahead of ours: you could see not just where to go out, but which night to go — so naturally I wanted that kind of insider info for every city in the US (and beyond... eventually). I'm more of a behind-the-scenes type, but the whole point of this is connection: I'd take one real one over a hundred surface-level ones, and I'm trying to build that for the community, city by city.
