Newcastle, England
Late-night bar with drag queen DJs, open seven nights till 3am
Rusty's is a late-night bar on Times Square, by the International Centre for Life, and it lists itself on Facebook as a gay bar. It says it opened in 2011 and pitches itself on classic camp tunes and what it calls award-winning inclusivity, with the line "Regardless of your Sexuality, Race, Gender, Religion or Shoe Size… We are a bar for everyone!" It's open seven nights a week until 3am, with drag queen DJ hosts playing camp, cheese and chart and taking requests. Inside there are five bars, an upstairs seating area, a stage area for dancing, an outside terrace and a VIP room. Next door, Rusty's Showbar runs cabaret on Friday and Saturday with the resident Rusty's Girls and guest acts, and it does a brunch.
