Edinburgh, Scotland
Men-only gay sauna off Broughton Street, open daily 11am to 10pm
Steamworks is a men-only gay sauna tucked into Broughton Market, a little lane just off Broughton Street and a few minutes' walk from the Pink Triangle bars. It describes itself as Edinburgh's male-only health club, and it's a sister business of Planet Bar. Inside there's a steam room, a dry sauna, a hot tub and communal showers, plus private cabins, a video room with two large screens and a play area that includes a dark area. It's open every day from 11am to 10pm. A locker is £20 (£18 early bird, 11am to 12pm), and cabins are £24 with a double locker, TV, charging sockets and a lockable door. Tea and coffee are free. Most days have a theme: £16 lockers on Monday Madness, £14 for under-30s on Tuesdays and for students on Thursdays, a towel-free Naked Day on Wednesdays, and darker-than-usual sessions on Fridays and Saturdays.
