Part of the Gay Denver Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Denver, Colorado
Multi-level East Colfax dance bar with one of Denver's biggest patios.
X BAR has anchored East Colfax in Capitol Hill since 2010, when Steven Alix opened it; today it sits inside Lavender Hill, the queer cultural district that took shape along this stretch of Colfax in 2021. The multi-level club runs a main dance floor, an upstairs Glow Lounge, and one of the largest outdoor patios in Denver nightlife, with on-site kitchens turning out late-night food. Programming is high-energy and runs most nights — karaoke, lip-sync and drag competitions, hip-hop and house DJ sets across the week — and it pulls a young, mixed, high-volume crowd. With gender-neutral restrooms and an easy walk to several other LGBTQ+ rooms along the strip, it's the natural place to start or land a big night out on Colfax.
