Zeno’s Pub is a beloved underground tavern perched—literally—“directly above the center of the Earth” at West College Avenue and South Allen Street, operating for over 50 years as a ritual of downtown State College life. Inside, you’ll find a character-filled, slightly dim, wood-lined basement setting that attracts beer connoisseurs with an extraordinary selection of international brews. Many patrons honored the beer-passport tradition—sampling around 80 beers to earn a personalized wall plaque. Live music adds to the charm, typically on a small ground-level stage with genres like bluegrass, folk, or acoustic tunes. The service is knowledgeable and friendly, making Zeno’s a must-visit for anyone serious about beer.
