Scotswood Road
Scotswood Road is the heart of the Pink Triangle, with three bars and the city's gay sauna on the same stretch.
The Yard
The Yard is a gay bar at 2 Scotswood Road, at the top of the road. It describes itself as "Newcastle Gay Scenes longest owned and operated safe LGBT space for the North East Gay Community". There's no website, so its Facebook page is the place to check what's on: that's where it posts its party nights and themed weekends. With The Bank Bar, The Eagle and Number 52 on the same stretch, it's easy to fold into a night along the strip.
The Bank Bar
The Bank Bar is at 12 Scotswood Road, and it lists itself on Facebook as a gay bar. Its pitch is price: it says it's open seven days a week with "No gimmicks. - No happy hour. - No catch. Just lower prices", and promises not to put prices up at weekends. That makes it a handy spot for an afternoon drink or a cheap start to the night. It has no working website, so check its Facebook page for the latest offers.
The Eagle
The Eagle is a leather bar at 42 Scotswood Road, next door but one to Number 52 Sauna. It bills itself as "the only Amsterdam style leather, denim and uniform bar in the North East of England", so this is the place to come if leather, denim or uniform is your scene. It doesn't have a website, so keep an eye on its Facebook page, which is where it posts party nights, including its monthly DILF party.
Times Square
Times Square is the square by the International Centre for Life, home to Newcastle's late-night gay bar.
Rusty's
Rusty's is a late-night bar on Times Square, and it lists itself on Facebook as a gay bar. It says it opened in 2011 and pitches itself on classic camp tunes and what it calls award-winning inclusivity, with the line "Regardless of your Sexuality, Race, Gender, Religion or Shoe Size… We are a bar for everyone!" It's open seven nights a week until 3am, from 10pm Monday to Thursday and from 9pm Friday to Sunday, with drag queen DJ hosts playing camp, cheese and chart and taking requests. Inside there are five bars, an upstairs seating area, a stage area for dancing, an outside terrace and a VIP room. Rusty's Showbar, its sister cabaret venue, runs shows on Friday and Saturday with the resident Rusty's Girls and guest acts, and hosts a weekend brunch.
Newcastle's Gay Sauna
Number 52 is the men-only gay sauna at 52 Scotswood Road, in what it calls the heart of Newcastle's gay village. It bills itself as the city's busiest and only male sauna, "gay owned and operated by the community, for the community". It's spread across three floors, with a sauna cabin, a fully tiled steam room, a relaxation lounge, a cinema room, private rental rooms and a licensed café bar. It's open 11am to 10pm Monday to Thursday, then non-stop from 11am Friday until 10pm Sunday. Members get in from £13 at off-peak times, membership is free (you sign up at the door), and towels are provided. Full details:

Robbie S.
I'm Robbie, the founder of Out x Out. I'm from Minneapolis, though I'm spending 2026 building this community from the road — somewhere between South America and Asia. The idea for Out x Out came from a trip to Berlin, where the gay nightlife calendar was years ahead of ours: you could see not just where to go out, but which night to go — so naturally I wanted that kind of insider info for every city in the US (and beyond... eventually). I'm more of a behind-the-scenes type, but the whole point of this is connection: I'd take one real one over a hundred surface-level ones, and I'm trying to build that for the community, city by city.
