Montrose Harbor, Lincoln Park
Montrose Harbor, Chicago, IL 60613Proud to Run 2026 kicks off Chicago's Pride weekend at sunrise on Saturday, June 27, with a lakefront 5K and 10K run-walk starting around 8 a.m. near Montrose Harbor in Lincoln Park. Founded in 1982, it's one of the longest-running LGBTQ+ Pride races in the country and a feel-good way to start the biggest weekend of the year — earning your brunch before the festivals and afterparties begin. The flat, fast, and scenic course hugs Lake Michigan with skyline views the whole way, welcoming everyone from competitive runners to first-timers and casual walkers. There's no pressure on pace: people show up in rainbow gear, costumes, and team shirts, and the finish-line area turns into a mini Pride festival with music, vendors, and community spirit. As a registered nonprofit, Proud to Run routes its proceeds to LGBTQ+ organizations across Chicago, so every entry does a little good. Registration runs about $45 and up depending on the distance, and you can sign up in advance online or grab your packet at pre-race pickup. Montrose Harbor sits on the North Side lakefront; the CTA 78 Montrose bus from the Wilson Red Line gets you close, and there's lakefront parking if you arrive early. Dress in layers for the cool morning air, bring water, and plan to celebrate at the finish before heading off to the rest of your Chicago Pride 2026 day. It's the healthiest, happiest way to open Pride Saturday.
