What is the Gay Neighborhood in Provincetown?
Provincetown doesn't have a designated gay neighborhood because the entire town functions as one. With an LGBTQ+ population that has been the majority in-season for decades, Ptown is one of the few places in America where queer culture IS the mainstream culture.
Commercial Street
The center of everything is Commercial Street, a narrow 2-mile stretch running from the West End to the East End. The densest concentration of gay bars, drag venues, shops, and restaurants sits in the central section between Standish Street and Winthrop Street. This is where you'll find The Crown & Anchor Hotel & Bars (a massive gay entertainment complex with six bars), Post Office Cafe & Cabaret, and the iconic late-night gathering spot Spiritus Pizza.
West End
The West End is quieter and more residential, with galleries, upscale LGBTQ+-owned guesthouses along Bradford Street, and A-House (one of the oldest continuously operating gay bars in America) tucked away on Masonic Place. The vibe here skews toward couples and a calmer scene.
East End
The East End is the historic artists' and bohemian quarter, with fewer bars but excellent galleries, restaurants like The Mews Restaurant & Cafe, and a more laid-back atmosphere.
Bradford Street
Running parallel to Commercial Street one block inland, Bradford Street is home to many of Ptown's best guesthouses including The Brass Key Guesthouse and Salt House Inn.
