Manila Luzon and Latrice Royale Are Playing a Free Show in Puerto Vallarta Next Week

If you have been idly wondering whether to burn a few days in Puerto Vallarta before summer runs out, here is your excuse: Manila Luzon and Latrice Royale are performing there next Thursday, outdoors, for free.

The two Drag Race veterans take the main stage at 6 p.m. on 30 July for the opening night of the first Latin Fest Diversity Week, as Out & About PV reported. Admission is free and open to anyone who turns up.

And the location is the part that will make anyone who knows the town laugh. The stage is going up at the intersection of Ignacio L. Vallarta and Lázaro Cárdenas — which is to say, directly outside Mr. Flamingo and CC Slaughters, the corner where half the Zona Romántica ends up standing in the street on any given night anyway. They are essentially building a stage on top of the pre-existing party.

The full opening night

Manila and Latrice are the marquee booking, but they are one slot in a stacked five-hour block, all on the same free main stage:

• 5:00 p.m. — Moxxila
• 5:20 p.m. — Gala Altamar, performing from the musical Mentiras
• 6:00 p.m. — Manila Luzon and Latrice Royale
• 6:30 p.m. — María Daniela y su Sonido Lasser
• 8:00 p.m. — Taiga Brava, who won the second season of Queen of the Universe; DJ Mariana Bo; and Christian Chávez, the former RBD member and a long-standing figure in Mexican LGBTQ+ visibility

One thing to correct if you saw the earlier announcements: there will be no Drag Race México: Latina Royale premiere at the festival. An outdoor screening of the first episode was originally billed as the centerpiece of opening night, but city officials have since confirmed no version of it is happening. Plenty of coverage still has it on the schedule — it is off.

The rest of the weekend

• Friday 31 July — dialogue tables at City Hall in the morning, a Just Dance tournament at PlayRoom at noon, and the third edition of the Voces del Orgullo awards at 8 p.m. at Domósfera. Four winners across four categories — lifetime achievement, visibility, social responsibility and social impact — each take home a 50,000-peso stipend. The prize recognizes activists who have bankrolled community work out of their own pockets for years, and it moved to Puerto Vallarta from Mexico City this year.
• Saturday 1 August — a beach and pool party with DJ Deanne at Mantamar at 11 a.m., where the usual cover applies, plus Lotería Pokémon at PlayRoom at noon.

Domósfera, worth noting, is the immersive dome Jalisco opened in Puerto Vallarta for the 2026 World Cup fan zone — the city did not host matches, but it did get the venue out of it.

This is also not a scrappy volunteer affair. Local outlet Tribuna de la Bahía reported the festival carries a public budget of about 7.5 million pesos — 6.5 million from the state of Jalisco, a further million from the municipality — with the production contract going to a private events company, Creativa Leventoph, for just under 7.5 million. For a first edition, that is real institutional backing rather than a trial balloon, which usually means they intend to run it again.

Worth booking?

Honestly, the timing is the sell. Late July into August is deep low season in Puerto Vallarta — hot, humid and squarely in the rainy months — which is exactly why airfare and rooms sit near their lowest of the year. A free headline drag show and a citywide festival dropped into one of the cheapest weeks on the calendar is a good trade, provided you have made peace with sweating.
