Part of the Gay Salt Lake City Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Salt Lake City, Utah
Craft cocktail institution operating at the same address since 1933
Bar-X has operated at 155 E 200 S since the repeal of Prohibition in 1933. A 2011 structural renovation preserved its original speakeasy design elements while establishing a craft cocktail menu that includes Old Fashioneds poured from a private Buffalo Trace barrel and Moscow Mules mixed with house-made ginger beer. The 1,600-square-foot bar does not serve food, but a connecting indoor doorway links directly to sibling establishment Beer Bar, which features over 140 beers and gourmet sausages. Doors open Tuesday through Saturday at 4pm, and Sunday and Monday at 6pm.
