Salt Lake City, Utah
Multi-level tiki bar with drag brunches, silent disco, and burlesque
Why KiKi is a multi-level tiki bar in downtown Salt Lake City, across from the Salt Palace Convention Center, that opened its baby-pink doors in spring 2021. The main floor is full beach fantasy, tropical cocktails poured fast and served in tiki mugs and fish bowls, while a basement speakeasy hosts silent discos spinning Latin music and hip-hop. It leans into its own kitsch hard, menu included, and is one of the higher-traffic queer rooms in the city. It's also a genuine performance venue. Saturday nights bring a dinner drag show with seating at 7 and the show at 8, Sundays a drag brunch, and the calendar fills in with burlesque showcases, themed weeknights, and rotating parties. Central, loud, and unserious in the best way, it's the spot to bring a group when you want a show with your drinks rather than a quiet corner.
