Part of the Gay Chicago Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Chicago, Illinois
A no-frills Northalsted neighborhood bar known for nightly karaoke.
Bobby Love's is one of the quieter neighborhood bars on the Halsted strip, an art deco room in Lakeview that owner Bobby has run for more than twenty years. It trades the club energy of its neighbors for a Cheers-style regulars' bar: stiff pours, an easy crowd, and bartenders who'll know your name by the second round. Everyone's welcome regardless of orientation, and it tends to draw a mixed, low-key crowd. The signature here is karaoke, which runs on weekends and pulls in everyone from genuine belters to the shower-singer crowd. It's the spot to land when you want conversation and a microphone rather than a dance floor, and a good slow-down stop in the middle of a bigger Northalsted night.
