Part of the Gay Anchorage Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Anchorage, Alaska
Anchorage's 10-bar entertainment complex with live music since 1970.
Commonly known as 'Koot’s,' Chilkoot Charlie’s is a massive entertainment complex that has been an Anchorage landmark since 1970. The sprawl includes 10 distinct bars, three stages, and three dance floors, with themed decor ranging from sawdust floors to Russian-inspired lounges. While not an exclusive gay bar, its sheer scale and eclectic programming make it a consistent destination for the local LGBTQ+ community. The venue hosts live bands and DJs nightly and was once famously dubbed the best bar in America by Playboy.
