Part of the Gay New Orleans Guide — bars, events & things to do.

New Orleans, Louisiana
Easygoing Rampart Street neighborhood bar with regular drag shows.
GrandPre's is an easygoing gay neighborhood bar at 834 N. Rampart Street, on the seam where the French Quarter meets Tremé and directly across from Louis Armstrong Park. Under newer ownership, it's leaned into being the low-key local's spot on Rampart—friendly bartenders, affordable drinks, and a back patio that draws people who'd rather talk than shout over a dance floor. The room keeps a steady slate of entertainment: regular drag, live acts, and a 'Boylesque' night on the fourth Friday of the month. It's the antithesis of the big Bourbon Street clubs—more about the people behind the bar and a familiar crowd than a production. Regulars have called it the closest thing the Quarter's gay scene has to a Cheers, and that's the right register for it: a place to become a regular, not just pass through.
