LGBTQ+-owned metalsmithing studio in Five Points with jewelry workshops
His+His is a metalsmithing and jewelry workshop in Buffalo's Five Points neighborhood, owned by husbands Vince Pontillo-Verrastro and Aric Verrastro. Both hold MFA degrees in metalsmithing from Indiana University and met in a jewelry-making class at SUNY Buffalo State in 2008. The studio opened in 2022 and runs hands-on workshops — ring making ($100, two hours), lost-wax casting ($250, two days), enameling, and silversmithing — capped at about four people per session alongside retail sales of their handmade pieces. The name reflects who they are. His+His bills itself as "Inclusively Queer Design Jewelry Education + Craft Advocacy" and is listed on Step Out Buffalo's guide to LGBTQ+ owned businesses. Metal scraps are recycled and sourcing is environmentally conscious. Note: as of mid-2025, the studio was moving to a new space — check @hisandhisstudio on Instagram for the current location.
