Underground Niteclub is Buffalo's oldest gay bar, tracing its roots to 1974 and the old Hibachi Room on Delaware Avenue in Allentown. After a high-profile 2018 closure tied to a federal lease dispute, it reopened in early 2026 under new ownership, bringing one of Western New York's longest-running queer institutions back to life. The current room is intimate and traditional: a long two-sided bar, pool tables, and a dedicated dance floor, now paired with an in-house kitchen. Programming runs to drag shows, karaoke, and local DJ sets, and the reopening has made it a symbolic anchor for a community that watched the space go dark for years.
