Mexico City, State of Mexico
Zona Rosa bear bar born out of the BearMex community.
Nicho is the bear bar of the Zona Rosa, on Londres just up from the strip's busier rooms — an outgrowth of Adrián Garfias's BearMex, the community-events outfit he started in 2005, with the bar itself running since 2008. The space leans into the format: a narrow, cave-like corridor that tightens as you move in, lit warm red, with bear statues and photos of burly men down the walls. It opens Thursday through Saturday. Thursdays pull the biggest regular crowd on '80s music with no cover, Fridays are bear karaoke, and go-go dancers, the occasional underwear party, and the annual BearMex Leather Weekend fill out the calendar. The room is strictly men — bears, otters, daddies, and the admirers who come for them — the mood relaxed and a little cruisey, and prices stay low (beers run around thirty pesos). If you came to Mexico City looking for the osos, this is the address.
