AHF thrift shop on Halsted funding HIV/AIDS care.
An AIDS Healthcare Foundation thrift store on Halsted in Boystown, Chicago's historic gay district. The roughly 8,000-square-foot shop sells secondhand clothing, furniture, housewares, books, and electronics, and 96 cents of every dollar spent funds AHF's HIV/AIDS care and prevention work — so the bargain hunting doubles as a donation. Opened in 2019, the location is also a full AHF wellness center, with free rapid HIV and STI testing, an on-site pharmacy, and PrEP and PEP services; demand was strong enough that the clinic expanded into a neighboring storefront in 2024. It's a useful one to know on the strip — drop off a bag of donations, dig through the racks, or get tested, all in the same trip.
