Halifax, Nova Scotia
Professional queer theatre company and producer of Halifax's OutFest.
Professional queer theatre company founded by Isaac Mule during the pandemic, producing year-round at the Bus Stop Theatre on Gottingen Street in Halifax's North End. Page 1's flagship is OutFest, a 6-day festival every April billed as the largest queer theatre festival in Atlantic Canada, with a blind-submission selection process drawing local and national artists. Beyond the festival, the regular calendar includes Queer-Prov (improv comedy with local drag artists), Unwrapped (annual holiday concert), and an inQubator artist development program that gives Nova Scotia creators two years of dramaturgical support. Current productions in development include work about the Chechen LGBTQ+ purge and refugee/asylum seeker stories.
