Member-owned black-box theatre on Gottingen Street and home of Halifax's OutFest.
The Bus Stop Theatre Co-operative is member-owned and operates as the only professionally equipped black-box theater in Halifax. Located on Gottingen Street, the 75-seat venue hosts over 100 different artistic groups annually. It serves as the primary home for OutFest, Atlantic Canada's largest queer theater festival, and maintains a year-round calendar of drag, indie theater, and experimental comedy. Since purchasing the building in 2020, the co-op has secured its place as a vital independent performance space in the North End, resisting the trend of venue closures due to local gentrification.
