Columbus, Ohio
Lesbian-owned Merion Village bar with a retro '70s look since 2022.
Lesbian-owned neighborhood bar on the revitalizing Parsons Ave corridor in Merion Village. Owner Jackie Sansavera opened Rumours in January 2022 with a deliberate late-1970s aesthetic — warm orange tones, retro phone booth, classic movies on the flatscreens, and a Fleetwood Mac-themed cocktail menu. The cider mule is the one to try. Programming fills the week: Tuesday music trivia, Thursday bingo, Friday karaoke, Saturday drag shows, plus recurring open mic and DJ nights. No kitchen on-site, but food trucks rotate through regularly. The crowd is intentionally mixed — queer community, South Side regulars, German Village spillover. Rumours has earned a role in Columbus LGBTQ+ history, hosting the celebration for the Ohio Historical Marker honoring Summit Station, the state's longest-running lesbian bar.
