Dallas, Texas
Dallas's LGBTQ+ professional theater at the Kalita Humphreys.
Uptown Players is Dallas's only LGBTQ+-focused professional theater company, founded in 2001 and performing at the 399-seat Kalita Humphreys Theater — the only theater Frank Lloyd Wright ever designed. The company stages musicals, contemporary plays, and original work exploring relationships, family, and prejudice, with an audience that runs about 60% LGBTQ+ and 40% straight allies. The company has racked up 25+ Leon Rabin Awards and was the first regional theater in the US to present The Boy from Oz and Next to Normal after their Broadway closings. Regional premieres have included Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and The Nance, plus world premieres like Redesigning Women. The current season runs through August 2026.
