Part of the Gay Wichita Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Wichita, Kansas
Wichita's primary gay dance bar with drag shows and one of the city's largest dance floors
XY Bar opened on New Year's Eve 2016 and has become Wichita's main gay dance destination, set in the Old Town entertainment district at 235 N Mosley. The 6,000-square-foot room holds one of the largest dance floors in the city, and the name nods to the XY chromosomes, a wink from co-owner Jerry Nguyen's pre-med days. Programming is built around drag: a recurring Third Sunday Drag Show hosted by Brown Sugar brings in local and out-of-town performers, and Ronda's Review, a fourth-Monday open mic, hands the stage over to singing, comedy, drag, and burlesque. The rest of the week leans on DJs and themed nights spanning house, techno, and Top 40, with karaoke in the mix. It's 21+, usually with no cover, and it pulls a younger, dance-minded crowd than Wichita's dive-bar options. This is the place to land when you want a real floor and a show rather than a quiet pint.
