Queer Women·St. Paul Gay Guide
Are There Lesbian Bars and Safe Spaces in St. Paul?
The Twin Cities have several dedicated queer women's spaces and events, with options in both St. Paul and Minneapolis.
St. Paul Venues
- Black Hart of Saint Paul — Explicitly women and trans-welcoming LGBTQ+ pub with drag shows, burlesque, karaoke, and first-timer-friendly performance nights. A genuinely inclusive space that actively centers diverse identities
- Black Garnet Books — BIPOC and queer-owned bookstore in St. Paul that hosts community events, readings, and gatherings in a welcoming space
Queer Women's Spaces in Minneapolis
- A Bar of Their Own — A queer women's sports bar in Minneapolis, one of the few dedicated sapphic spaces in the Midwest with a welcoming atmosphere for LGBTQ+ women and non-binary folks
- LUSH Lounge & Theater — Nonprofit LGBTQ+ venue in Northeast Minneapolis with an inclusive atmosphere and regular drag, burlesque, and dance events
- Camp Bar and Cabaret — Campy queer bar with cabaret shows and a welcoming vibe for all identities
Sapphic Events & Parties
- Grrrl Scout — A queer events company that organizes lesbian-focused dance nights, themed parties, and community gatherings every few weeks at rotating Twin Cities venues. Follow their social media for upcoming pop-up events
The Twin Cities haven't had a standalone dedicated lesbian bar since Pi Bar closed in 2008, but efforts are underway to open a cooperatively owned queer-lesbian bar in the metro.
