When is Fire Island Pride?
Fire Island doesn't hold a single Pride parade like most cities — the entire summer season from Memorial Day through Labor Day is a continuous LGBTQ+ celebration. However, several signature events serve as the island's Pride highlights.
Invasion of the Pines — July 4, 2026
The Invasion of the Pines is Fire Island's most iconic event and one of the most unique LGBTQ+ celebrations anywhere. Hundreds of drag queens and friends gather at The Ice Palace in Cherry Grove, then board water taxis for a spectacular flotilla across the harbor to "invade" the Pines. The tradition dates back to the 1970s and draws thousands of spectators. Events kick off Friday, July 3rd, with the main Invasion on Saturday, July 4th, and after-parties continuing through Sunday, July 5th.
Fire Island Bear Weekend — June 11–15, 2026
Held across Cherry Grove and the Pines during Pride Month, Bear Weekend features pool parties, dance events, beach gatherings, and the Mr. Fire Island Bear contest.
Fire Island Leather Weekend — May 15–17, 2026
The season opener brings leather enthusiasts and kink-curious visitors to the Pines for themed parties, poolside gatherings, and community celebration.
