Part of the Gay Milwaukee Guide — bars, events & things to do.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Gay-owned bar, coffeehouse, and rotating art gallery in Riverwest since 2004.
A gay-owned bar, coffeehouse, and rotating art gallery in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood, open since 2004. Owner Don Krause built it around three things — art, booze, coffee — and the interior reflects that: a bar top made from recycled colored glass, tables built from yardsticks, support columns covered in bottle caps. Dogs are welcome inside and on the patio. The drink list covers 40+ bottled beers, 20 wines by the glass, martinis, and organic fair-trade coffee. Palermo's thin-crust pizza is the house food; you can also order from Wonderland Diner next door (same owner). Regular programming includes karaoke on Wednesdays, Beer Bong Bingo on Thursdays, acoustic acts midweek, and bands on weekends. Rotating art exhibits change every six to eight weeks, and everything on the walls is for sale. Krause has run the place as an intentionally mixed space — gay, straight, artists, neighbors — in a neighborhood known for exactly that. Autostraddle included it in their Queer Girl City Guide to Milwaukee.
