Part of the Gay Los Angeles Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Los Angeles, California
The South Bay's LGBTQ+ dive bar, with karaoke, trivia, and drag nights.
Artesia Bar is the South Bay's only LGBTQ+ bar, a no-frills dive on Artesia Boulevard that saves locals from Redondo Beach, Torrance, and El Segundo the drive up to West Hollywood. The room is exactly what a neighborhood gay dive should be: a pool table, cheap drinks, an outdoor patio for smokers, and unisex bathrooms, with regulars and allies treating it like a shared living room. The programming runs deeper than the dive look suggests. Karaoke lands three nights a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday), trivia on Wednesdays, and the weekends rotate through drag shows, a monthly Leather Night on second Fridays, and Latin Night on third Fridays. It's the anchor of a queer scene that doesn't otherwise exist this far south of the city — worth knowing about if you're staying near the beach.
