Part of the Gay Atlanta Guide — bars, events & things to do.
Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta's leather and Levi bar since 1988, now at Ansley Square.
Atlanta's leather and Levi bar since 1988, reopened in 2022 inside the former Midtown Moon space at Ansley Square on Piedmont Avenue. Two stories with a bar in every room: the upstairs dance floor runs club music from a live DJ most nights, while downstairs stays lower-key with pool and conversation. Theme nights, karaoke, and the full leather, rubber, bear, and pup spectrum are all part of the regular rotation. The Eagle caters to all of the community, but the core crowd skews leather and bear. It's also a piece of Atlanta civil-rights history: a 2009 police raid on the bar led to a federal lawsuit and a settlement of more than a million dollars plus police reforms, a story the room still wears with some pride. Longtime owner Richard Ramey kept the name alive through the pandemic closure of the original Ponce-area location, and the Ansley Square space brought back what regulars missed most: the dance floor, the drag nights, and a leather bar that actually feels like one.
